CEO Meets Homeschool with Timea Parker
Episode 78: 10x jump Housecleaners and personal organizers
Welcome to CEO meets homeschool. My name is Tamiya Parker and I am both a CEO and homeschool mom to my four boys. Welcome to episode 78. As I reflect on 2024, one of the best things that I did this past year keeps kind of, it keeps popping in my mind like over and over again. And I'm like, this honestly like changed my life. And it seems very, to some people, this was not a big deal, but to me, it It was, it was a key part of my 2024 and has forever changed me. So I, when we were getting our place in Texas set up to be a midterm rental and getting ready to head to Montana, my personal organizer, she came and helped go through everything. And I kid you not, when I say, I think I got rid of one third to one half of everything I own and probably more. Of what my kids own, so we saved what was special to us. We saved what we used and. Got rid of everything else. It was, and it was definitely an emotional journey, but on the other side of that process, it, there's such a, like a load off my shoulders. I don't like clutter, but I am the type of person if I bought something and it didn't end up being exactly what I wanted, I'll tend to keep it thinking, well, I paid for it. I'll probably use it. So, You know, multiply that over all kinds of different random stuff. It just clutters things up and I don't have a lot of stuff, but you don't need the things that you're not using. And so she really helped me in that. And I probably wouldn't have done it alone. So having somebody hold you accountable and the beauty of that is now that house feels like a really, you know, Lovely vacation rental, and it makes you want to be in your house and you want to be in a home that you enjoy being in and sometimes clutter or just disorganization because we didn't have a lot of clutter kind of takes away from that relaxed environment to me personally that I like to create. So a 10x jump, the lady who helped me with that, she already worked for me. She just knew this was a project that we had coming up. So my 10x jump for this week. Is absolutely was hiring a, I actually had a house team because there's two of them hiring house cleaners, and then my personal assistant or personal organizer. And those are both areas that I'm incredibly weak on. I will organize your financials for your business down to the penny. Yes, that's my strength. But kind of decorating, organizing all that I love beautiful spaces, but it's just not the gifts that I have. So you find people that are better at it and bring in on a housekeeper and personal assistant has been an absolute 10 X jump. It has brought so much more joy in my life. There's times where if we were traveling. The house cleaners, they knew we were gone. They would come in while we were gone. I'd come home from travels and I'd walk into the house. And I remember thinking every single time, I was like, to me, this feels like Christmas. Having somebody give me back my time to have a beautiful space just gives me more time with my kids and my husband. I loved it. It just so there's these little things and everybody has to figure out in their budget when they can add these things, but I just want to share. What I encourage is when you're able to afford it, don't skip it. If that's a weakness of yours and you know, it would add value to your life. Cause what I've seen is folks know their weaknesses. They know they need help and then they see their revenue now can afford it. And they say, you know what, I'm going to keep doing this on my own and save the money. And so that's just where I think I want to share like. spend it and, you know, invest in other people whose strengths that they enjoy housekeeping, they run a business, they're good at it. It's, it's awesome to see the dollar or your cash, invest in others, and it brings a benefit to you. You're believing in others and just keeps going cycling forward in that way. So that's everything. And I think this is going to be posted right as we head into the new year or hopefully that's the schedule we're on. So everyone have a wonderful new year.
