Episode 95: The impact of a 5 minute podcast

Timea Parker Season 2 Episode 95
Timea:

Welcome to season two of CEO Meets Homeschool. My name is Timia Parker, and I'm both a CEO and homeschool mom to my four boys. Welcome to episode 95. So this episode hits different and I should have better notes, and I've told myself as I'm heading toward 100 episodes, I really should try to do a better job. But bear with me. I kind of am. Um. I have all kinds of, all the feels today sharing this one, but again, I'm a little bit jumbled in my notes. So I received a message from someone who has been listening to my podcast and she said that I inspired her and she started bookkeeping, so she started. I consider that if you're a contractor, I still consider that people starting their own business and I. It had such a huge impact on me. This is a homeschool mom who shared that because she was listening to it, she started this business and, um, she went on to say the time blocking changed her life and the episodes about 10 x and the 12 week year encouraged her to just go for it and not delay. I'm telling you, when you get something like this because you shared your story, it. To me, it's like transformational on what it does for me. It, I was so deeply touched and it just encourages me to, to keep moving forward. Even I have plenty of days where I'll share about feeling misunderstood or I talk about fear all the time, but I, I think when you know the path that you should pursue and you go for it, it's stories like this that just encourage you so much. So that was wonderful. And. I've mentioned before where sometimes I feel like this podcast is more business related and I have more CEOs or entrepreneurs or investors listening to it. This kind of switching over to the homeschool world where a homeschool mom started a business like this kind of balances out. The audience I wanna connect with because I literally live in these two worlds, smashed together and in a sense feel like I don't belong anywhere. But this is like, there's not a whole lot of folks doing what I'm doing. That's what I mean by don't belong. But I loved hearing this other story and I'll wrap up with just another, probably my last ski story as we're now into spring and I. What happened is I was with my second youngest kiddo, and it was just him and I. We planned a ski day and I had an interview. I've been doing some hiring, and I needed to be back in my office for an interview. And he knew about this and he goes, we often, when we're on the summit, there's this one hill. It's like our ski run. It is my all time favorite run. It has been so much fun. It's awesome. And. I usually save that for last'cause it takes you to a different chairlift and then you kind of go down the front of the mountain to the cars so you don't really, you can't really just ski it again and again. So we were sitting here and he goes, mom, we better go. Just kind of go straight down the mountain, not do this one fun run because of your meeting. And I remember I told him, I said, no, we're gonna do the fun ski run. If worst case scenario, we're gonna delay my interview by 10 minutes. And I remember doing that run with him, sharing it with him, and it was like the perfect ski day. Amazing snow blue skies, and it was so much fun. We get down there, I had to coordinate a little bit and I was running behind and we totally figured it out with my interview and where I had to be. But the point was my kiddo was like, we can skip this moment. And I was like, no, we can. We can make everything happen. And we did. And it's just a reminder. Again, I mentioned this in the prior one, where sometimes we can neglect the ones that are most important just because we might feel like we're running outta time. But I encourage us to get creative, to make a phone call, to make an adjustment because who's more important. And if I recall correctly, that interview, that was not somebody who was a good fit. I never hired them. So yes, looking back, I'm so glad I spent time with my family. Versus kind of push them away to show up for a meeting that I still was able to make it to, even if I had to modify it slightly. So I hope everyone has a great day. I'm so glad that you joined me today. If you have found this helpful or just enjoyed following along, it would be a huge blessing to me if you like and subscribe to this podcast. Thanks So.
