Episode 99: Terrible Advice

Timea Parker Season 2 Episode 99
Tiimea:

Welcome to season two of CEO Meets Homeschool. My name is Timea Parker and I'm both a CEO and homeschool mom to my four boys. Welcome to episode 99. I have a 94-year-old bestie. I call her. She's gonna be turning 95, and I always say she's one of my best friends. I really. Admire this lady and often she would swing by my place unannounced. And I have a rule, I'm like, if anyone comes by 70 years or older, I drop everything and I always take time to visit, have a cup of tea, just stop what I'm doing and. For someone who's like big on time blocking. I, I don't do that for just anyone, but I do have this wonderful, soon to be 95-year-old friend and she means the world to me. And it was funny'cause we have a, a property that we just listed and I thought, I know she's gonna see this sign and she's gonna call me so I better call her. And before I could call her, she gave me a call and I was like, ah, I knew it. I, so if you have the ability to have. Those deep relationships with seniors. They are. They're some of the most cherished friendships that I've ever had. I just wanted to share that about her. I actually just had to pause my podcast'cause my husband and all our boys walked in with ice cream, just so I did. Good. Hopefully I don't think you heard any of that craziness. Anyway, where was I? So. Today, I think I'm gonna name this podcast, terrible Advice the other day on my LinkedIn feed. I didn't stop to do a deep dive on it, but I just saw it and glanced at it and I wrote it down. It was to me so ridiculous. So what I saw was this, it said, make up in volume what you lack in skill. And I remember thinking that is terrible advice. So when I think of volume. I think of your time. So it's like if you're not good at something, I, this is how I defined it. If you're not good at something, it's just saying work twice as hard, get it done anyway. And I feel like that is the exact opposite of tapping into your unique ability into things that you love and believe in and you're good at. And it was the ultimate, to me, that advice is the absolute perfect recipe for burnout. And it just. It's gonna be a short podcast, this one, but I just felt like that's, LinkedIn for me is all business and it's, you know, it's nothing like Instagram or TikTok like for the most part it's people just kind of giving basic business input. And I thought to see that on this. This site is just a great reminder to be careful of the advice you allow in because that was terrible advice and there's my little rant of the day. Have a wonderful evening, everyone. I'm so glad that you joined me today. If you have found this helpful or just enjoyed following along, it would be a huge blessing to me if you like and subscribe to this podcast. Thanks so much.
