CEO Meets Homeschool with Timea Parker
Episode 105: Change
Welcome to season two of CEO Meets Homeschool. My name is Timea Parker, and I'm both a CEO and homeschool mom to my four boys. Welcome to episode 105. I am sitting at a makeshift desk right now, and I'm actually in British Columbia, Canada. Overlooking a lake, and it's pretty fun. I hope the quality is somewhat reasonable as I record this, but I think this summer I'm gonna have a whole bunch of makeshift locations, so bear with me. But I wanted to share, there's a quote I just read in my kids' devotion and it goes, if we only do what we're familiar with, we might miss what we've been made for. Of course. I love that quote because as I'm sitting here, I'm actually right outside the town that I grew up in, and I feel like I'm not there. What I ended up doing is I found there's almost no vacation rentals. It was slim picking. I found this one place that was on a lake and I was like, I don't even, I'm not even familiar with the lakes around this little town I grew up in. So I got this place, give my dad a little space'cause he's got a tiny place and I'm here with the boys for his 75th birthday, which is pretty cool. But I, I got this place and I walked in and I'll have to post maybe a photo of this on social media, but it's just, it's tiny little place. Nothing extra special. But what's. The only thing I'd say that's special is this view. It's got a beautiful view, right? You walk into the little house and there's these big windows, these cute little chairs, and it just overlooks the lake. And so each morning I wake up and I come and look out here and I thought, I don't even know where I'm at. Like I've, I switched things so much on this trip that it doesn't feel like this little hometown that I grew up in. And I think there's something. To learn from that, you know, and you can keep doing the same things every day for years after years. Or you can be intentional and, and do something different, or even just try something different. You don't have to have a perfect plan. And when ended up happening for me is I, I switched this trip here and. I feel like I'm in a little slice of paradise and I don't even recognize this little hometown that I grew up in, and I kind of like how that switched things up. And then last night, I'll just throw this in for fun. I've been connecting with some of my childhood friends and it has been like, my heart feels very full. It's been so much fun and. Last night, one of my friends was actually coming out here to our little lake house, and all of a sudden she shows up. But she brought two other of our childhood buddies, so there was four of us, and we just visited into the evening and it was so much fun. Like I'm just so grateful for old friendships, new friendships, and just. Basically having people that you care about as you grow older. And so I thought I'd share that and encourage you. I'll read the quote one more time if I have it written. So if we only do what we are familiar with, we might miss what we've been made for. So I hope you go try something new and adventurous. Have a great day, everybody. I'm so glad that you joined me today.
